Enable Safety Events in a Project Plan

Enable safety events either when creating a new project plan or by editing an existing one.

Before adding safety events to a project plan, you must choose how safety event requests will be handled. This setting determines whether safety inspections and trainings can be added and how they are processed after being requested.

Before You Begin

⚠️Safety Events are only available for customers using both Resource Planning and Safety (Inspections or Trainings).

Before enabling safety events:

  • You must have the Manage Project Plans permission enabled.

  • You must have access to Safety Inspections and Trainings.

Enable Safety Events When Creating a Project Plan

When creating a new project plan, you can enable safety events during setup.

To enable safety events during creation:

  1. Go to Scheduling → Project Planning

  2. Click Plan

To enable safety events on an existing plan:

  1. Go to Scheduling → Project Planning

  2. Locate the project plan

  3. Click Edit Plan

  4. Find Safety Event Requests

  5. Select how safety events should be handled

  6. Click Submit

Once updated, safety events will be available in the project plan.

Safety Event Request Options

When enabling safety events, you choose how requests will be handled after they are created.

Send to Safety

Select this option to send safety event requests directly into BusyBusy’s Safety module.

This allows safety managers to:

  • Review requests

  • Assign inspections or trainings

  • Track completion

Email Requests

Select this option if safety events are managed outside of BusyBusy.

When a safety event is requested:

  • An email is sent with the event details

  • The inspection or training is handled externally

Instantly Approve Requests

Select this option to automatically approve safety events without sending a request.

This option is useful for:

  • Planning-only workflows

  • Teams that do not require approval before completing safety activities

Off

If this option is selected:

  • Safety events cannot be added to the project plan

  • The option to create safety events will not be available

What Happens After Enabling Safety Events

After safety events are enabled:

  • You can add safety events to tasks within task groups

  • Safety events can be requested just like tasks

  • Requests are sent based on the selected option

  • Approved events are managed in the Safety module

Important Things to Know

  • Safety Events must be enabled before they can be added

  • Safety Events can only be added to tasks within a Task Group

  • Safety Events are not available on standalone tasks
