How Safety Event Requests Work in Resource Planning

Safety Events in Resource Planning can be sent as requests, allowing your team to review, assign, and complete safety inspections and trainings. This article explains how safety event requests work and what happens after a request is sent.

Before You Begin

Safety Events are only available for customers using both Resource Planning and Safety (Inspections or Trainings).

Before requesting a safety event:

  • Safety Events must be enabled in a Project Plan’s settings

  • A safety event must already be created on a task

  • The task must be part of a Task Group

Request a Safety Event

To request a safety event:

  1. Go to Scheduling → Project Planning

  2. Open the project plan

  3. Locate the safety event on the timeline

  4. Click the safety event

  5. Select Request

Once requested, the safety event is sent based on the project plan’s Safety Event Request settings.

Where Safety Event Requests Go

Safety event requests are sent to different locations depending on how the project plan is configured.

Send to Safety

If set to Safety:

  • The request appears in the Safety Inspections or Safety Trainings area

  • Safety managers can:

    • Review the request

    • Assign it to a user

    • Approve or deny the request

Email Requests

If set to Email:

  • An email is sent with the safety event details

  • The inspection or training is managed outside of BusyBusy

Instantly Approve Requests

If set to Instant Approval:

  • The safety event is automatically approved

  • No review step is required

  • The event is ready to be completed

What Happens After a Request Is Sent

After a safety event is requested:

  • The event status updates (for example: Requested, Accepted, or Denied)

  • Approved events are assigned and managed in the Safety module

  • Denied events remain in the project plan and can be updated or requested again

Where Safety Events Are Completed

Safety events are not completed in Resource Planning.

Instead:

  • Inspections are completed in the Safety Inspections area

  • Trainings are completed in the Safety Training area

All completion details and records are stored in the Safety module.

Important Things to Know

  • Safety events must be requested before they can be assigned or completed

  • The request workflow depends on the project plan’s settings

  • Changing request settings only applies to new requests

  • Existing requests are not affected by changes

  • Safety event completion is tracked in the Safety module, not in the project plan

This article is only regarding the Safety Requests in Resource Planning within BusyBusy
