Access to Resource Planning, called Project Planning in BusyBusy, is controlled by permissions.
Permissions determine which users can view, create, edit, or delete project plans and how those plans interact with Scheduling.
This article explains where Resource Planning permissions are managed and what access they provide.
Where Resource Planning Permissions Are Managed
Resource Planning permissions are managed at the position level.
To manage permissions:
From the left navigation menu go to Settings.
Select Positions.
Click on the position you want to update.
Locate Manage Project Plans.
Turn the permission on or off.
Save your changes
Permissions apply to all users assigned to that position.
Manage Project Plans Permission
The Manage Project Plans permission controls access to Resource Planning.
When this permission is enabled, users can:
View project plans
Create new project plans
Edit existing project plans
Delete project plans
Add and manage tasks and task groups
If this permission is turned off, users will not be able to access Project Planning.
Scheduling Permissions Requirement
Because Resource Planning is designed to connect directly with Scheduling, additional scheduling permissions will be required.
When project plans are configured to send requests into Scheduling, users responsible for managing those plans must also have full scheduling permissions.
This ensures that users who plan work can also review, approve, and manage schedules tied to those plans.
Note: This requirement helps prevent conflicts between planning and scheduling and ensures planned work can be acted on without duplicate entry.
Who Should Have Resource Planning Access
Resource Planning is typically used by users who are responsible for planning and coordinating work, such as:
Project Managers
Superintendents
Operations Managers
Office Administrators
Field Employees who are not responsible for planning or scheduling usually do not need access to Project Planning.
