Task templates in Resource Planning — called Project Planning in BusyBusy — allow you to save commonly used tasks so they can be reused across multiple project plans.
Task templates help teams plan faster, stay consistent, and avoid rebuilding the same work for every project.
When to Use Task Templates
Use task templates when:
You perform the same tasks across multiple projects.
Task durations, crew sizes, or equipment needs are usually similar.
You want to standardize how work is planned.
You want to save time when building new project plans.
Common examples include site prep tasks, concrete pours, inspections, or recurring phases of work.
Create a Task Template
Task templates are created when adding or editing a task.
To save a task as a template from a new task:
Go to Scheduling → Project Planning.
Open a project plan.
Select the plus (+) button to add a New Task.
Complete the task details (name, duration, employees, equipment, cost code).
Select Save as new template.
Click Create.
To save a task as a template from an already created task:
Go to Scheduling → Project Planning.
Open a project plan.
Click the three dots next to the task.
Select Save as new template.
Click Create.
The task is saved as a template and can be reused in future project plans.
Use a Task Template in a Project Plan
To add a task template to a project plan:
Open a project plan.
Click the plus (+) button to add a task.
Select the task template from the list.
Adjust dates or details as needed.
Click Create.
All saved details from the template are applied automatically.
Manage Task Templates
Task templates can be viewed and managed from the Templates panel.
To manage task templates:
Open Scheduling → Project Planning.
Open a project plan.
Click Templates.
Select the Task tab.
From here, you can:
View all task templates.
Edit template details.
Delete templates that are no longer needed.
Changes made to task templates apply only to future uses and do not affect existing project plans.

Important Things to Know
