Task group templates help teams plan complex work faster while keeping task order, timing, and structure consistent.
When to Use Task Group Templates
Use task group templates when:
A group of tasks is repeated across multiple projects.
Tasks are typically performed in the same order.
You want to standardize how phases of work are planned.
You want to reduce setup time for larger project plans.
Common examples include site prep, foundations, framing, or interior finish phases.
Create a Task Group Template
Task group templates are created when building a task group.
To save a task group as a template:
From the left navigation menu click on Scheduling → Project Planning.
Open a project plan.
Click Templates on the top.
Click Task Groups.
Click +Create on the top.
Name the task group template.
Add the tasks that belong in the task group.
Confirm task order, start day, and durations.
Select Create.
The task group is saved as a template and can be reused in future project plans.
Use a Task Group Template in a Project Plan
To add a task group template to a project plan:
Open a project plan.
Click the hierarchy icon under the project name.
Select the task group template from the list.
Choose a start date for the task group.
Click Create.
All tasks in the template are added at once with their predefined order and timing.
Manage Task Group Templates
Task group templates can be managed from the Templates panel.
To manage task group templates:
Open Scheduling → Project Planning.
Click Templates.
Select the Task Groups tab.
Click on a specific Task Group Template.
From here, you can:
Edit the task group template names
Change task order
Adjust task durations or start day offsets
Add or remove tasks
Delete the task group template
Changes apply only to future uses of the template.

Important Things to Know
Editing a task group template does not affect existing project plans.
Task group templates can include both templated and non-templated tasks.
