Download Your Budget Spreadsheet (Web)
Sign in to BusyBusy on the web.
From the left navigation menu, select Budgets.
In the upper-right corner, click the three-dot stack.
Select Edit Using a Spreadsheet.
To edit all project budgets, use the three-dot stack from the main Budgets page.
To edit budgets for a specific project (including its subprojects and cost codes), open the project first, then use the three-dot stack.
Review the helpful steps and notes on the screen.
Select Download List.
Name and save your CSV file.
BusyBusy automatically suggests a filename such as BusyBusy Budget Reimport – YYYY-MM-DD.csv.
You may rename it before saving.
Your CSV budget file has now been downloaded to your computer.
Create a Safe Copy of Your File
Before making any edits:
Open the downloaded CSV.
Select File → Save As to create a copy of the file.
Rename it (e.g., “Copy” instead of “Original”).
Always keep an untouched “original” copy so you can reference your starting data if something goes wrong.
What Not to Edit
Avoid making changes to the following columns:
Project Key
Cost Code Key
Project
Cost Code
These fields help BusyBusy identify where each budget row belongs.
Edit Your Budget Data
You can edit any of the budget columns, including:
Labor Hours
Labor Costs
Equipment Hours
Equipment Costs
Progress Value (must be added at the cost code level, not the main project row)
How to identify rows:
Main project row: no cost code key and no cost code name
Cost code rows: include a cost code key and list the main project name followed by the cost code name
Subproject rows: listed underneath their parent project and follow the same structure
Editing tips:
You can type hours and costs directly or copy/paste values
Dollar signs are not required
Use whole numbers or decimals (e.g., 125 or 125.5)
Continue editing until all of your updates are complete.
If you make an error or accidentally overwrite data:
Nothing in BusyBusy changes until you re-upload the edited file. |
Save Your Edited Spreadsheet
When editing is complete:
Press Ctrl + S / Command + S, or
Use File → Save
Re-Import Your Spreadsheet (Web)
Return to BusyBusy on the web.

Select Edit Using a Spreadsheet again.
Click Import.
Upload the copy of the CSV file that contains your edits.
BusyBusy will:
Validate your file
Display all changes for final review
If something looks wrong:
Click the X to cancel

Your updated budgets will now appear inside BusyBusy.
Best Practices
Always create a backup copy before editing.
Avoid editing key identifier columns (Project Key, Cost Code Key, Project, Cost Code).
Edit progress budgets only on cost code rows.
Use the spreadsheet tool when updating many projects at once—it saves time and prevents manual entry errors.
Re-import only after verifying your data on the validation screen.
