Create a Basic Hours Budget (Web)
Sign in to BusyBusy on the web.
From the left navigation menu, select Budgets.
Choose the project you want to create a budget for.
Projects that already have hours tracked but no budget will show red hours, indicating a budget is recommended.
Select Create Budget.
In the budget setup screen, ignore the Cost Codes section (since this is a simple hours-only budget).
Turn off the Autofill toggle.
Autofill automatically calculates total hours based on Cost Code details.
Because this is a simple overall-hours budget, you’ll want to enter totals manually.
Enter your planned Labor Hours for the entire project.
Enter your planned Equipment Hours (if needed).
Review your totals, then select Save.
Your budget will now appear on the Budgets page. As employees and equipment track time to this project, actual hours will automatically update in your budget.
Where Actual Hours Come From
Labor Actuals update automatically based on employee time cards.
Equipment Actuals update based on equipment time tracked in BusyBusy.
No manual entry is required. BusyBusy will fill these values in real time.
Best Practices
Start with a basic hours budget if you’re new to budgeting.
Add more detail (such as cost codes or cost columns) as your team becomes more comfortable.
Revisit your budget after the first few days of work to ensure your planned hours match the pace of the project.
Hours-only budgets work especially well for large companies with many employees.
 | If you prefer to break your hours down by task, you can add Cost Codes to your budget at any time. Cost code budgets give you more detailed insights into which tasks are taking the most time. |
