The Custom Fields feature in BusyBusy lets you track the specific information your company needs, like estimated completion dates, department codes, permit numbers, or equipment purchase dates. You can create up to five custom fields per list, helping your team capture critical details directly in the system — without relying on spreadsheets or manual notes.
This article walks you through how to create, edit, and manage Custom Fields on the BusyBusy web app.
Prerequisites
|
1. Access Management Lists
Log in to the BusyBusy web app.
In the left-hand menu, click Management Lists.
Choose the list you want to add a custom field to: Employees, Projects, Cost Codes, or Equipment.
In the top-right, click the three dots, then select Manage Custom Fields.
2. Create a Custom Field
On the Manage Custom Fields page, click Create in the upper left corner.
Enter a Label — this is the name of the field (e.g., “Estimated Completion Date” or “Permit Number”).
(Optional) Enter a Secondary Label to add instructions or context (e.g., preferred date format mm/dd/yyyy).
(Optional) Check the Admin Only box if you want only Admin users to see the field (useful for sensitive info like birthdays).
Click Create to save.
Once saved, the custom field will appear as a new column in your Management List.
3. Manage Columns Display
To show, hide, or reorder columns:
Click the Column icon at the top of the Management List.
Check or uncheck boxes to turn columns on or off.
Click and drag column names to reorder them.
4. View Custom Fields in Detail View
Click any row in the Management List to open the detail panel on the right side.
Custom Fields will appear at the bottom of this right-side column.
They are also visible when viewing the full details of Employees, Projects, Cost Codes, or Equipment.
5. Edit or Delete a Custom Field
Go back to Manage Custom Fields.
Click the custom field you want to edit, make changes, and click Update to save.
To delete a custom field, click Delete — note that this will permanently erase any data entered in that field.
