Overview
If carpenters and designers work on the same job but you need to keep their hours and cost codes separate, BusyBusy gives you two ways to set this up. Both let you control which cost codes each group can clock into. The right choice depends on whether you still want to see a combined total for the whole job.
Steps
Option 1: Subprojects under one job (combined and separate totals)
Create a parent project for the main job.
Under that parent project, create two subprojects: one named Carpenters, one named Designers.
Turn on cost code scoping for each subproject, and assign only the cost codes that group should use.
If you want to make sure employees pick the right subproject, turn on the setting that requires a subproject selection at clock-in.
Use this method when you want to see totals for the whole job and totals for each trade separately.
Option 2: Two separate projects (fully separate totals)
Create two separate projects for the job: one for carpenters, one for designers.
Turn on cost code scoping for each project, and assign only the cost codes that group should use.
Use this method when you don't need a combined total, and want carpenter and designer time kept completely apart.

Only Option 1 (subprojects) gives you a rolled-up total for the main job. Option 2 keeps the two projects fully independent.
