Display Time Cards and Reports in Decimal Format

Learn how to switch Time Cards and Activity Reports to decimal format instead of hours and minutes.

BusyBusy shows time in two formats: hours and minutes (HH:MM), like 1:30, or decimal, like 1.50. By default, many screens show HH:MM. If you prefer decimal for payroll or accounting, you can switch most Time Cards and Activity Reports to display that way. This setting is not all-or-nothing, you'll need to set it in a few different places depending on which report you're looking at.

Time Cards: Summary and Basic

  1. Go to Time Cards > Summary.

  2. In the top right corner of the table, next to the list icon and the plus button, click the Columns icon (it looks like three vertical bars).

  3. From the column options, set the format to decimal. This works for both the Summary and Basic views.

Time Cards: Expanded

  1. From Time Cards, use the Settings panel on the right side of the screen. Click the dropdown currently labeled Summary and select Expanded.

  2. Scroll down in that same right-side Settings panel to Time Format, and select Decimal (HH.MM) instead of Hours (HH:MM).

Activity Reports

  1. Open the Activity Report you want to change.

  2. Click the Columns icon in the top right corner.

  3. Set the format to decimal. Repeat this for each Activity Report you use.

Good to know:

  • This works for all Activity Reports except By Equipment, which does not currently support decimal format.

  • This setting only affects how time is displayed. It doesn't change how time is tracked or calculated.

  • If you need a report in decimal format that isn't listed here, submit a feature request through busybusy support with details of what you need and your use case. Our developers review these requests.
