Do I Still Need Gusto or QuickBooks Payroll With BusyPayroll?

What happens to your Gusto or QuickBooks Payroll account after you switch to BusyPayroll.

Overview

BusyPayroll is Gusto, built right into busybusy. When you switch to BusyPayroll, you run payroll from inside busybusy instead of logging into a separate payroll system. This raises a common question: do you still need to keep your old Gusto account or your QuickBooks Payroll subscription?

The short answer is no. BusyPayroll is built to replace both. Here is what changes for each one.

What Happens to Gusto

  1. If you already had a Gusto account, BusyPayroll can migrate it into busybusy.

  2. After the migration, all payroll services are managed and billed through busybusy.

  3. You do not need to keep a separate Gusto account or log into Gusto.com to run payroll.

What Happens to QuickBooks Payroll

  1. QuickBooks Payroll is a standalone payroll service, separate from QuickBooks accounting software.

  2. Since BusyPayroll now handles your payroll, QuickBooks Payroll is no longer needed.

  3. You can cancel your QuickBooks Payroll subscription once BusyPayroll is up and running.

What Happens to Your QuickBooks Accounting

This is the one part that does not run automatically.

  1. BusyPayroll does not directly integrate with QuickBooks accounting software (QBO or QBD).

  2. Instead, BusyPayroll gives you a CSV file with your payroll costs, broken down by job and by tax, for each pay period.

  3. You will need to manually enter this data into QuickBooks, or into whatever accounting software you use.

Notes

  • You keep QuickBooks for accounting. You just stop using QuickBooks Payroll (or Gusto) to run payroll.

  • Entering the CSV data into your accounting software is a manual step. There is currently no automatic sync between BusyPayroll and QuickBooks accounting.
